Few in the United States are mourning Major-General Qassem Soleimani, the feared commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force who had extended Iran’s often lethal tentacles across a swathe of the Middle East and beyond.

But many are worrying about what it may have unleashed.
