Half of Singapore’s 10 largest charities by donations collected have business subsidiaries, a practice which has drawn a reminder from the charities watchdog that charities should keep the relationships at arm’s length.
A check by The Sunday Times found these charities with business subsidiaries to be the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and three mega churches, New Creation, City Harvest and Faith Community Baptist Church.
