Despite a ban on riding personal mobility devices (PMDs) on roads and expressways, many users have been caught flouting the law, with 700 cases in the first nine months of the year, according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
The actual number of offenders could be even higher as many violations go undetected. Observers said that some PMD users might think it is not dangerous to go on smaller roads, and could also risk riding on major roads for the thrill of travelling faster.
