Working hard to crack the Nasa boys’ club

In the 1995 movie Apollo 13, a group of brilliant men figure out how to save a damaged lunar spacecraft and bring its astronauts back to earth.

But in the real-life Apollo 13 mission in 1970, a remarkable woman named Frances “Poppy” Northcutt played a vital role too – so vital, she shared the American Presidential Medal of Freedom given to the team at Nasa, the United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration, responsible for the rescue.
