Hong Kong writer-director Oliver Chan’s debut feature Still Human (2018) may be a fictional tale about the relationship between a Filipina domestic helper and her wheelchair-using employer, but it is rooted in reality.
In fact, the main characters were inspired by a domestic helper and her disabled employer that Chan, 31, had encountered in her neighbourhood around two years ago.
